There are numerous caves on this rock overhang with clear evidence that these caves and shelters were well used by our Prehistoric ancestors.

Disguised Troglodyte

This wonderful unmapped Troglodyte really blends in with the surrounding area, and if you do not know where it is, you can easily walk straight past it.
This natural split in a rock, was an ideal shelter for our prehistoric ancestors, through the years, it has changed from being just a natural shelter, a thick stone wall has been added, complete with door and lookout holes.

Commarque

Commarque has been occupied for a very long time, our prehistoric ancestors left numerous traces of their existence. Not far from the site at Commarque, Paleolithic man left two female statuettes known as the Venus of Sireuil and the Venus of Laussel.
On the other side of the valley, in the shelter at Cap Blanc, one can admire a frieze of prehistoric sculptures. Under Commarque Castle there is a cave where Magdalenian man carved animals on the wall, notably a very beautiful life-sized horse (not open to the public).
